For as long as I can remember, I’ve been bringing people together, organising celebrations, designing ceremonies, and helping others to tell their stories.  The motivation to work under the banner of death, dying and bereavement has in part stemmed from my studies, working in the education, the not for profit sector, within equality and diversity, my work as a Therapeutic Counsellor and my personal experiences of being the daughter of parents in various caring professions.

My own research led me to the term “Celebrant” and after reading a description of the role, I recall thinking ‘this is me!!!’images (6)

In some circles I’m still asked what a Celebrant is. So just so we’re all on the same page, let me explain.  A Celebrant is someone who creates and performs tailor made ceremonies for life’s milestone moments. Ceremonies that celebrate couples who are coming together in unity, to welcome new-borns or adopted children, or honour those that have passed on with memorable send-offs.  Each personal ceremony uniquely reflects each love story or life story by weaving together words, music, poetry, and rituals.

With widening eyes and a wave of realisation,’ I knew this was a calling.  My friend turned to me and said this brings together all that you have done! It’s a culmination of your studies and your career experiences, this IS you!kente22

I believe in the power of connectivity.  I was raised to ‘comfort bereaved, support community and attend funerals’ from childhood so this is something that has resonated with me for a lifetime.  I work with these experiences and my expertise in my professional capacity and bring them into my role serving families with end of life ceremonies, memorials and other events that honour life's milestones.

As your funeral officiant, I promise to be proficient, produce a quality ceremony and serve you with warmth and sincerity.  I thrive on building meaningful relationships and will respect your unique values, your beliefs, philosophy for life, and cultural background.  Whether secular, religious, spiritual, non-denominational, interfaith or multicultural, I will deliver a personalized ceremony over which you will have the last say on every aspect, right down to the last detail. Together, we will create a meaningful ceremony that is memorable and celebrates your loved one’s life and imprint on the world.

I am an independent civil Celebrant who trained at the UK College of Celebrancy and a certified member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants (FPC).
